Webinar on Opportunities and Challenges of International Arbitration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)

Dr. Mohamed Hafez, Counsel and Legal Advisor to the Director of CRCICA, participated as a speaker in a webinar organized by ZhiZhong and the supporting organization was the Centre for International Alternative Dispute Resolution (CIADR) with regard to the topic of “International arbitration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)” on Sunday 11 April 2021.

The webinar was moderated by Ms. Wu Qian (Singapore International Arbitration Centre “SIAC”). Dr. Hafez delivered a presentation titled “How to deal with Multi-Party and Multi-Contract Arbitration Proceedings”. Dr. Hafez provided a comparative analysis on how different arbitral institutions, including CRCICA, approach these matters and provided how CRCICA had dealt with them in some of its arbitration cases. The platform used for the webinar was VooV Meeting and it was live-broadcasted on WeChat (Chinese main social platform) and YouTube.

It is worth noting that CRCICA has entered into the Belt and Road Arbitration Initiative Agreement concluded in May 2019 by CRCICA, BIAC and KLRCA.https://crcica.org/news/2020/05/29/cooperation-agreement-between-crcica-and-china-guangzhou-arbitration-commission/
