Cooperation Agreements Concluded across the Globe

In August and September successively, CRCICA signed two cooperation agreements with the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC) in Rwanda and the Chinese European Arbitration Centre (CEAC) in Hamburg, Germany.

Dr. Ismail Selim signed the agreements on behalf of CRCICA and Dr. Masengo Fidele, KIAC Secretary-General and Prof. Dr. Eckart Brödermann, CEAC Honorary Managing Director did on behalf of their respective Centres.

The scope of cooperation in both agreements involved, inter alia, promoting arbitration and ADR techniques through joint capacity building events (workshops, seminars, …etc.), use of facilities and venues, information exchange and collaboration in research.

In manifestation of CRCICA’s strategy to support diversity and inclusion, each agreement reflects a different pan-institutional scope. While the CRCICA/KIAC agreement involves “cooperation in the achievement of the goals of the African Arbitration Association” (AfAA) headquartered at KIAC and established in June 2018, the CRCICA/CEAC MOU reflects “both parties’ wish to collaborate to help businesses resolve disputes that may arise in cross- border transactions under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as well as other disputes”.
