Appointment of Dr. Ismail Selim as an Expert Member of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People’s Court of China

Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of CRCICA, was appointed as an expert member of the International Commercial Expert Committee (ICEC) of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) of the People’s Republic of China effective on 8 December 2020 for a four-year term.
The appointment of the second group of new Chinese and foreign expert practitioners aimed at assisting China’s Supreme People’s Court with the resolution of high value international commercial disputes, including conflict of laws issues, improving the professionalism of international commercial trials, and the establishment of a mechanism promoting connectivity of litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
It is worth noting that Dr. Selim is a frequent speaker and panelist at top events organized by Chinese arbitral institutions including; China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), China Law Society (CLA), and the Beijing Arbitration Commission /Beijing International Arbitration Centre (BAC/BIAC). Notably, CRCICA was the institutional representative of Africa in the Belt and Road Arbitration Initiative Agreement in May 2017 with BIAC and the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) (the-then Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre “KLRCA”). Dr. Selim speaks Arabic, French, and English fluently and Chinese (Basic).
