3rd Arab Lawyers Forum, Bahrain, March 2018

On 28 February - 1 March 2018, The third Annual Arab Lawyers Forumwas organized by Al Tamimi  & Co., Haya Rashed Al Khalifa Law Firm, Hassan Radhi and Associates Law Firm, Zu’bi & Partners Law Firm, and Thomson Reuters and Deloitte in collaboration with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) and supported by the International Bar Association (IBA).  The Forum aimed at promoting cooperation among legal professionals in the region to share the latest thinking on topical issues with their peers at a time of great change and unprecedented activity in the international legal landscape.

Dr. Selim moderated Panel Discussion 2 entitled: “Arbitration, a bespoke fit for the Arab World?” which focused on uniformity of arbitration rules and regional conformity with international best practices.  The Forum consisted of an interactive networking opportunity on day one, followed by a full day of insightful panel sessions focusing on developments in the legal industry driven by innovative technology such as FinTech, artificial intelligence and social media, methods of settling ordinary and extraordinary disputes in the Arab world, and the recent application of VAT and its impact on foreign direct investment.  At the end of the Forum, it was agreed to hold the 4th Arab Lawyers Forum alongside the IBA Annual Conference in Rome on 5-6 October 2018.
